Paul Robinson was left out of Capello's provisional squad, the chosen keepers were Joe Hart, Robert Green and David James. His manager, Sam Allardyce, was shocked by the decision: "I think that if you look at his form for Blackburn Rovers, there's not a better English goalkeeper who has consistently performed as well as he has. So it clearly can't be anything else other than something that Fabio has against him."

The current rankings according to the Premier League official website put Joe Hart in top spot with Petr Cech in second place, Edwin van der Sar in third, Paul Robinson in fourth and Jose Reina in fifth.
