I must admit, when Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United in the summer, I thought the Premier League Champions would be far worse off without him. Now, with only a handful of games to go in the season, United are top of the Premier League, still in the Champions League and have already won the Carling Cup. Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor will join Real Madrid for the rest of the season on a loan deal but the Spanish club will have the option to buy the player at the end of the loan spell. Adebayor scored 19 goals in 36 league and cup starts for the Blues after being signed from Arsenal by previous manager Mark Hughes. Last season he scored 14 goals in 26 Premier League appearances but this time round he has managed just one in eight league matches.
