five clubs attempting to avoid the drop - Racing Santander, Malaga, Real Valladolid, Tenerife and bottom club Xerez - but on paper they look to have the easiest task. Racing Santander are at home to mid-table Sporting Gijon, Malaga host Real Madrid, Valladolid go to Barcelona, Tenerife are at Valencia and Xerez, who are three points adrift of the other four teams, travel to Pamplona to face Osasuna.

Leaders Barcelona will meet 14th placed Racing Santander on Saturday in an attempt to grab the 14th consecutive win and further consolidate their leadership. Barcelona eased past Malaga last week, 4-1, while Santander got beaten 2-1 at Athletic Bilbao.

After beating relegation candidates Malaga 7-0 in midweek Real Madrid will be traveling to meet 12th placed Racing Santander on Sunday. Racing grabbed a 1-1 draw at bottom club Almeria on Thursday but they would surely welcome at least another point on Sunday to stay out of relegation trouble.
