Ghana's World Cup preparations have suffered a huge setback with the news that a knee injury will prevent Chelsea star Michael Essien from playing in the finals in South Africa. The 27-year-old missed a large part of the recently-concluded season due to knee and ankle injuries during Ghana's African Nations Cup campaign and has hardly played any competitive football since December.

South Africa may fall victim to a terrorist attack during the World Cup it is hosting in less than two weeks, according to a report in local newspaper, the Sunday Times, quoting an investigative group and other sources.

South Africa will have to battle with France, Mexico and Uruguay to qualify for the second stage of the World Cup. They will surely have fantastic support at home but is their team good enough to go through?
