Serie A leaders AC Milan will travel to Sampdoria on Saturday in an attempt to grab the three points and remain top of the table. Sampdoria got a good away win at Lecce last weekend and climbed up in 8th place while AC Milan got a narrow home win over Fiorentina. AC Milan continued their good form into the Champions League where a 2-0 away win at Auxerre booked their passage to the next round.
The reigning World Champions had a poor start at the 2010 World Cup after getting a couple of 1-1 draws against Paraguay and New Zealand. They still have a chance to qualify though as Paraguay leads the group with 4 points, New Zealand have two points and Slovenia just one point. Defending champions Inter Milan have won three games in a row after the winter break and they will be looking to continue their revival when they meet Udinese away from home on Sunday. Inter are just six points off the top with a game in hand while 8th placed Udinese have also been showing good form lately as they beat Genoa 4-2 away from home last week.

Francesco Totti may have missed out on being named in Italy's preliminary World Cup squad, club coach Claudio Ranieri intimated on Saturday. Roma striker Totti had been considering coming out of international retirement for the June 11-July 11 tournament in South Africa but media reports have said coach Marcello Lippi has decided against recalling him and has informed the club.

After an unconvincing start Juventus seem to be getting back on track with a good 4-2 home win over Cagliari while Inter have lost their last game 1-0 away at rivals Roma.
The Italian capital derby will take place on Sunday as fierce rivals Roma and Lazio will meet for the third time this season. Roma have won the previous two encounters, 2-0 in the league and 2-1 in the Italian cup, so Lazio will be keen on getting revenge. Roma are coming from a severe Champions League defeat, 3-0 at the hands of Shakhtar Donetsk and are currently 6th in the league while Lazio beat Palerom 2-0 last week and are in 4th place in the Serie A.
