Martin ONeill resigned, what can Aston Villa achieve without him this season?

better without him
They are better off without him.
big blow aston villa satisfied mid table finish
That's a big blow, Aston Villa might be satisfied with a mid-table finish.

His resignation was rumored for a couple of years now but it finally happened yesterday. Martin O'Neill guided Aston Villa to three consecutive 6th place finishes in the Premier League but decided to leave probably because the club didn't give him enough money for transfers this summer. The club might also sell its two star players, James Milner and Ashley Young and most likely O'Neill agreed to let only one of the two leave. What will happen to Aston Villa this season?

Vote for: Ashley Young does not feature in England's provisional World Cup squad. Is that a good decision from Fabio Capello?

mundial | May 12th, 2010 | by JohnnyKarp
good call better players
Good call, there are better players.
believe it one best wingers league
I can't believe it, he's one of the best wingers in the league!

Despite having a good season with Aston Villa Ashley Young didn't win Capello's trust and his chances of playing at the World Cup are almost equal to zero. He could still make it if some of the selected players get injured...

A straight fight between Leighton Baines and Stephen Warnock to act as deputy to Ashley Cole at left-back will end in heartbreak for the loser.

deserved red card conduct unacceptable
He deserved the red card, his conduct is unacceptable.

That happened to Dorchester Town 38-year old player/manager Ashley Vickers who was shown a straight red card for hauling down a Borat impersonator who invaded the pitch during the Conference South clash at Havant & Waterlooville.

18 year old Jack Rodwell from Everton is a defensive midfielder who can also play center back. "He was just 15 when he made his first reserve appearance, replacing David Weir in a game with Sheffield United in October 2006. Earned five caps for England’s under 16 team, and is now captain of the under 18s team." (from the Everton website) 22 year old Gervinho is already considered one of the star strikers at the Ligue 1, where he plays as a foreword for Lille. He is also captain of the Ivory Coast Olympic team and was just added to the national Ivory Coast roster for the World Cup. Many consider him to be Didier Drogba's heir. Romelu Lukaku is only 16, but that didn't stop him from starring on the Belgian league playing for Anderlecht, and scoring against such big teams as Ajax at the EUFA league. He's been said to be on Real Madrid, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Milan's watchlist. Italian teen Davide Santon has already been compared to Paulo Maldini. At 18, he's probably the best young attacking right defender in the country, and already plays for Inter, and on the national Italy squad. 17 year old Iker Muniain plays as a forward for Athletic Bilbao. He's the youngest player ever to score a goal in a first division match in La Liga, at 16. He also plays for the U17 Spanish team.

Vote for: Is Ashley Cole serious when he says he may actually quit football?

I'm undecided

Several papers are reporting this morning that Chelsea and England defender Ashley Cole is considering quitting the game after his wife, Cheryl Cole, left him. The 29-year old is understood to be so upset with the collapse of his marriage that he may hang up his boots. I personally have my doubts that Cole is really considering quitting football, but what do you think? Vote now.
