With no doubt, the best soccer jersey number is the number 10. The number ten is probably the most popular number because of legends like Pele and Maradona who took the number ten to new heights. More recent soccer stars like Roberto Baggio, Francesco Totti, and Lionel Messi have all attempted to continue the legacy of the magic number ten by wearing it proudly in hopes of someday capturing the same glory as Pele or Maradona. Pele is commonly considered to be the best soccer player ever. The striking image of a yellow number ten Brazil jersey performing a flawless bicycle kick or a light blue number ten Argentina jersey racing past everyone towards the goal were such powerful World Cup images that they will never be forgotten.

Wayne Rooney is a popular soccer star in the English Premier league that is well known for wearing a number ten jersey while winning championships with Manchester United.

Lionel Messi recently made the Argentina number ten hot again with the team’s impressive world cup wins this past year. Brazil’s yellow number ten Kaka and Zico jerseys are also being sold in large quantities worldwide. The number ten will not be retired and every young kid wants to be number ten on their little league soccer team.

The number ten is usually worn by a player that scores many goals. This player is most often a midfielder of a forward. The popularity of the number has much to do with tradition and history. The general feeling among some onlooker often is that the guy who is wearing the number ten jersey is the most important, the team captain, or the best player who scores the most goals. Most of the time this observation is accurate and it is an honorary privilege to wear the legendary number ten.
