Brazil 1950: Uruguay 2 - Brazil 1. A title dreamt by a whole nation was almost set because of the tournament rules: a tie would be enough for Brazil to win its first title. However, Uruguay won 2-1 in a game known as "the Maracanazo".
Mexico 1970: Brazil 4 - Italy 1. The Jules Rimet trophy would go to the first team that wins a third World Championship; Italy and Brazil reached the final both with two championships. The unforgettable exhibition of offensive football that Brazil showed through the tournament, ended with great authority by probably the best team ever.
Switzerland 1954: West Germany 3 - Hungry 2. The "Miracle of Bern" made Hungry the best team that never won the World Cup. A wet field and great spirit let West Germany win its first title in a game where they were down by two goals.
Mexico 1986: Argentina 3 - West Germany 2. The tournament of Maradona ended with a vertiginous final where the Germans tied the game in the '83, only to see Argentina make the decisive goal three minutes later.
West Germany 1974: West Germany 2 - Netherlands 1. Netherlands, with its "Total Football", scored their goal at the 2', but they could not score again, and the Germans did what they do best: they came back and wonn against a favorite team.
South Africa 2010?: Argentina conducted by Messi; Brazil with a strong defense; the passing game of Spain; Germany and its resilience, all are favorites to be at the World Cup final 2010.
